Scooters and Bicycles
Reminder about scooters and bicycles.
Please remind students that in the morning (8:30 – 9:00) they are to dismount and walk their scooters or bikes, while on school property.  Similarly at the end of the day when there are many students still using the school property, they are to be walked while on the school grounds (3:30 – 4:15).  This is required to ensure that they are used safely and that pedestrians are not injured.  Thank you for your support.

School Safety Awareness
Please be careful and extra vigilant when dropping off your children in the morning and picking up at the end of the day. Please consider an alternate form of getting to school such as walking, biking or carpooling.  A reminder that left turns north on Hilton are not allowed between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.; 11:15a.m. – 1:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Reminders

Hillcrest is a Peanut Free Zone
Hillcrest has several students with severe nut allergies.  Please ensure that lunches and snacks are peanut-free.
Traffic and Parking
Please be aware that there is no parking allowed on the north and south side of Nina.  Please be considerate to our neighbours when picking up and dropping off students.  Also, there is no north bound traffic allowed on Hilton between 7:30- 9:30; 11:15 – 1:15 and 3:30 – 6:30.  Thank you for your support.
School Yard Supervision
Please remember that the yard is supervised from 8:45am to 3:45pm. The playground space is available before and after; however, a parent or guardian must be on site as well.
Phone Calls
Synervoice is the new automated phone call system.  The system will call home when a child is marked absent and there has been no previous notification from parents.  If you get a call, please listen to and follow the instructions until the end of the message.  If not, the system will automatically call again.
LOST and FOUND
If you are in the school, please take a moment to visit the Lost and Found by the Kindergarten hallway near the gym as it is full of lost items. There are many sweatshirts, rain jackets, swim bags and lunch boxes.
Unclaimed  Lost and Found items will be packed and sent to Goodwill on at the end of each month.

Did you know?

New LED lights have been installed in the entrance area, near the flagpole.  These lights will help to provide safer, clearer lighting in this area and are more energy efficient.

The school has replaced all the old plastic windows in the library.  This has provided much more natural light into the library and has enhanced the energy efficiency.
IMPORTANT! HEALTH CANADA RECALL NOTICE-ALLERJECT
In consultation with Health Canada, a Canada-wide recall has been issued for all lots of the Allerject epinephrine auto-injectors by Sanofi Canada.  A similar recall is taking place in the United States, where it’s sold as Auvi-Q.

Allerject is used as an emergency treatment by patients who are at risk and/or have a history of serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis. This recall is due to issues that may potentially affect the delivery of the required amount of epinephrine.

Parents should contact their health care provider or pharmacist for more information about this recall.
More information about this recall is available on the Health Canada website at:http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2015/55620a-eng.php or by contacting the Public Enquiries Line toll free at 1-866-225-0709.
